The State Duma adopted the law on toughening of punishment for participation in an organized criminal group

The State Duma adopted on March 14 amendments to Criminal and Criminal procedure codes of the Russian Federation. They will toughen punishment for leaders and participants of an organized criminal group. In the third, final, reading the bill in the sphere of counteraction to organized criminal groups is adopted. Now conditional responsibility for creation of an organized criminal group is excluded, it will be replaced by imprisonment from eight to 15 years and a penalty to five million rubles. Sanctions became tougher and concerning participants of criminal groups – they are threatened by from 12 to 20 years of imprisonment and a penalty to one million rubles, is reported on the website of the State Duma. The law also provided release conditions for participants of an organized criminal group: the message about the preparing crime, voluntary refusal of participation in group and assistance to the investigation.
